Few days ago I hop in my car to go to the bank.. Hmmm clutch is in the floor.. Crank 'er up and throw it in reverse (5 spd) it jumps in quickand starts rolling without moving the left foot.. ****. Well I'm outta my parking spot, time for first gear. Nope, not happenin' not going in any gear. So I sit there in the middle of the road a while pumping my clutch pedal and it eventually starts working again, eventually builds up pressure and works like normal (a little spongy i guess). So question is.. master cylinder? slave cylinder? lines? What's the deal. It's happening daily now but not quite as bad, lotsa pumpin' havin to be done.

Sounds like you got some air in the clutch hydraulic line.

Should just have to bleed it and you should be good to go.

well, if you do some searchin it seems that these cars are cursed by clutch problems, personally with my own car in the past 65k miles I have installed 2 slave cylinders, 2 hoses, 1 master cylinder and then rebuilt it 3 times and I still experience problems after a few thousand miles from the last fix. I have been using aftermarket parts from advance and wonder if this is not part of my problem, I am getting ready to replace my master cylinder with a REAL nissan one this time and see if that fixes it for any longer. Honestly if I were you I would replace all 3 components at the same time, even from nissan you wont have much over $100 in parts so its not a bad idea

Many people have been finding out the clutch dampener box is at fault. Many people are just plain eliminating it altogether. Many people bend the clutch line towards the rubber hose coming off the slave clyinder and connect it up from there. This will also take alot of the feel out in you clutch petal too. I have to adjust the clutch petal every so often too on my car.

getting rid of that thing is a good move takes 1min to bleed the line without it.

Well, I think Ive had just about every clutch hydraulic problem you can think of, at least 2 times, so, if you arent loosing any fluid in your resevoir, you can be fairly certain that it is a worn/leaky internal seal in your master cylinder. As I have been through about 3 master cylinders, I suggest you just buy from nissan the first time and don't mess around with autozone or any of that crap. It might also be wise to replace your slave cylinder at this time as well, and I can not emphasise enough how much better the job will go if you eliminate the dampening box.

I am hoping that going with nissan parts versus aftermarket will help with my problems...........

well I couldnt agree more, it seems that any type of master cylinder is usually much better from the dealer, in my experience with GM cars you'd never want to buy a master cylinder for most of them from the aftermarket. factory is usually the best way to go for most replacement parts
