i have a 04 spec v and the clutch is really unpredictable. it catches at different points all of the time and is very hard to get a good feel. i am thinking it could be something with the hydraulics, master cylinder or slave cylinder. not sure. thinking about replacing them. i've been looking at forums but can't seem to find out if anyone else has this problem or if it is just me?

Any strange noises from the trans? By catch, do you mean when it actually grabs and you get going or when you start to feel some connection going on? Could just be worn...

no there are no strange noises. when i say catch i mean when i start to feel the connection. when that happens it surprises me, sometimes it is abrupt and hard and the car almost stalls and sometimes it is gradual and the clutch slips. i've also noticed that when driving in traffic that the friction point changes in relation to the floor. when it is hot it catches closer to the floor then when it is cold and there is a lot more play in it. i thought that the clutch could be worn out but i've had the car almost 2 years and have noticed this problem once in a while but i have recently moved to an area where i drive in traffic almost everyday so the problem is becoming more frequent. not sure how big of a problem it is, if its a problem at all.

Try bleeding the hydraulic system first and see if that makes any difference.

Yeah, the temperature relation makes me think hydraulics. Bleed and refill the system first. Keep an eye out for leaks.
