sigh...

just completed second swap.

clutch makes grinding sound in neutral when i start to let it out at idle. clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, and throwout bearing were all installed in the donor car less than 20k ago. everything was torqued to spec.

im too scared to let it out all the way yet.

used lithium based hi temp wheel bearing grease as lube. it seemed thick enough.

im not sure if theres air in the line or not. i thought i was seeing things because there seemed to be bubbles at the damper but not at the cylinder.

i may be freaking out over nothing but i never noticed any grinding sound before when letting it out. if there is air in the line it maybe catching sooner and weirding me out.

the only thing i can think of is to bleed it again or bypass the dampner.

the good news is a new clutch line is only $22 at nissan if i mangle it.

air will not cause a grinding noise. one common cause is the input shaft bearing. mine has that issue. the throwout bearing must be good because its holding all the weight(metaphor) when the clutch is pressed down.

yeah mine does the same thing but not to the extent yours seems to. mine is just a "spinning" sound. i dont think its a problem though, just the noise, but make sure to replace it next time the transmission is out
