clutch grinding question

when you let the clutch out slowly it makes a grind but when you push on the gas it goes away. i was told by the dude im getting the car off of it was the throwout bering. what do you think it could be? its a new act clutch so i dont think the clutch is bad

It sounds like the throwout bearing (as the guy you purchased it from said) That should have been replaced when the clutch was installed. This is something that needs to be taken care of as you can damage the clutch if it does go out.
