if your stock clutch is bad, i would recomend getting a higher-performance one while youre at it. i put a stage 2 centerforce in my car and it made a hell of a differance. i can launch the car really hard, but it still engages like stock. if you put in a differant brand, a stiffer pressure plate is usually used and it takes away some of the drivability.

When I did my 5 speed swap earlier this year I put a stock clutch in, and it doesn't grab very well. Now Im wishing I would have bought something better, but I was in a hurry to get it finished. Like whiterps13 said, change it while you're at it, save yourself from regretting it later.

Upgrade, I have had many stock clutches shatter but I'm a little hard on my car. You can also look at a kevlar performance clutch lasting longer than a stock organic clutch, probably the life of the vehicle.

I went to my local clutch shop and paid 250 cash and got an aftermarket 6 puck kevlar ceramic. The price even included the resurfacing of my flywheel. They made it in house. One guy offered to put it in for a few hundred but I did it myself in a few hours.

-Drain transmission-Drop transmission-Unbolt the clutch from flywheel-Unbolt flywheel-Resurface flywheel-Bolt flywheel back up, using torque wrench-Throw alignment tool into the flywheel-Slide clutch disc over the alignment tool-Place pressure plate/clutch cover assembly onto alignment pins-Bolt down using torque wrench-Throw the transmission back on-Drop in 2.x (cant remember quantity off the top of my head)L of MT-90 into the transmission-Run through break-in period-Enjoy your clutch

Its not difficult, just looks like a daunting task.

Yea, dont go out of your way to smell the fluid. Its nearly as terrible as whats in your differential (easily the worst smelling fluid in a vehicle).

Remember to use a GL-4 fluid when you refill (I'm sure most of us use Redline MT90). Chances are, you wont be able to get your refill plug out, so you'll have to go through where your shifter is (which wont be all that bad anyway, because it'll be out when you pull/replace your transmission).
