Vehicle specs:92 240sx HatchbackKA24DE5spd.

Installed stage 782 clutch kit (good to 325hp).

Ok, removed the leaking slave cylinder from my stepson's 92 hatchback 240 while we were swapping engines. During the few days the engine/trans were out, the clutch system drained empty.

After installing the new engine and the trans, I replaced the leaky slave cylinder with a brand new part. It sucked. Couldn't get it to operate correctly. Bought another slave, it leaked. Finally got a slave that didn't leak, and replaced the master cylinder.

I STILL can not get a good pedal on this car! I've bled and bled and bled (about 2 quarts of brake fluid) and can't get the pedal to stay hard. I can pump it rapidly and it comes in good, then fades. I've checked and rechecked several times for leaks.

Is it possible that there's still an air pocket in the system somewhere? I've tried bleeding at the master, at the little junction block under the car and at the slave. I keep getting little bits of air, but is this normal?

Thanks for any and all help/suggestions.

Yes, you need to drain the box mounted on the body. Follow the hose from the slave cyl, to where it screws in. That box there is a dampener for the clutch system. There is a bleeder screw on it. You have to bleed it first, then you bleed the slave. In my experience, you have to go back and forth a few times, it took me about an hour and almost a quart of fluid.

i had a similar problem but it was my mastercylinder. everytime i was pushing it down it was sucking air into the system through the seal where the rod from the pedal met the master cylinder.

I had the me probem just with mine, my master was leaing from inside the cargo(where the pedal is at). I changed the master, an i said what the hell as well as the slave. If your slave was not working, or leaking, you should be able to take it back for another one. Also i believe on the master there is rubber gromments or grommets, anyways take of the canister, which holds the fluid, and see if those two are letting in air, and or if there still good. My thing on my car was that i would keep on trying to bleed the slave well, once i would go up to pump it(if i were to push fast) it would fell good, but once i say i let it sit for about 5-10 seconds it would just drop back down. Also has Chezedik try to bleed the actual slave. -Ricky

Mine is fixed now, but the FSM says you need to alternate between the two locations when bleeding. That was how I fixed mine.

Thanks all for the help everyone. I deleted the loop, bled the system (by myself) and now it has great pedal feel and the clutch is fantastic.

BTW, this is an Ebay XTD Stage 3 (320hp) clutch. It was 160 bucks shipped with pressure plate, puck style disc, release bearing and pilot bushing. Seems totally worth the money at this point. We'll see how long it lasts.

Keep this thread going and give a review on the clutch. It is best to delete it, but I got it bled and did not want to bleed it again to remove it. Also, I would want to remove it to the car, to save weight (if only a pound), but that would remove the undercoating from that spot, and my S13 does not need rust.
