im stranded at my friends house and want to have this fixed by morning. i have a 90 240 and i cant get the clutch fork to stay in the transmission. i see there is like a metal spring thing built into the back but im not sure what that does. all i know is ill drive it for a day and it slides down and causes my slave to extend too far and leak and not engage the clutch obviously because it is not in properly. is there anything i can do to get it to stay? do i need to push hard and it will snap into place or am i going to need to take out the transmission? i can actually take the entire fork out. it was like this about a year ago when i replaced the slave cyl but i just pushed it in place and its worked fine till no. please let me know if anyone has a clu how to get the fork to stay put.thanksluigi

sounds like the fork pivot inside the clutch area has broke off. have seen this happen couple times. pull the fork and boot out and look in there with a flash light about 2 inches in you should see a 17mm stud coming out from the trans front cover. it should have a round top on it if the round area is not there look for it between the spring and the fork. if it is on the fork it has broke only way to fix it is to remove the trans and remove the old pivot stud and install a new one.
