My Transmission is supposed to arrive tomarrow, as well as my Master Clutch Cylinder, and Slave Clutch Cylinder. Later this week I plan to send my Bell to Mazworxzszs and have them do their thing. I have never tried to swap automatic to manual, so I may run into some hiccups but hopefully nothing major.

However, I have no idea what I should do about clutches/flywheel setup. As well as do I need to splice any of the harness from the 300zx, to the remaining Q's transmission pigtails (I assume I do, however Im not sure if its crucial to the engine working or ECM working)

Thanks for the help Nico and Infiniti guys, Sorry for my spam of troubles with my Q - however I believe I have that under control now.

-Spence

Wow, you don't even want to think about doing things like this before you have had the car for awhile and have a very healthy bank account.

Wow, and the rest of the car is restored so soon!

Of course you know you will be the first in a G50, so let us know. Are you using the latest Tremec T56?

Not a T56, I would be using just a Z32 transmission.

I worked like crazy over the weekend to fix the car and it seems to be okay now.

Still I dont know whether a Z32 clutch would bolt to the VH's flywheel, or whether I should run a Z32 Flywheel and Z32 Clutch?

Wasn't nismosilvia doing the same thing as well? And midnightsliding (?) put an RB20 in his Q with a manual transmission.

Yeah man, Its that I just got a wicked deal locally for all the parts needed - and the adapter wont put a big blow into my budget. When I bought the car I made sure I had enough to get it running healthy and then several thousand left over for suspension, wheels, and 5 speed. Keeping it simple but definitely reliable and cool for the street.

Nice! I'm glad to see someone thinking outside the box with a Q.

I just went through the whole Mazworx adapter setup to put a 300zx transmission behind my VH, but in a Pathfinder. I wasn't converting from an auto to a manual, but I can help you with the clutch setup.

I would seriously look at some of the DXD clutches from z31parts.com. Decide how much power you're planning to make and get a suitable level clutch. I ended up going with the stage 2 TZ disc, even though I probably could have gotten away with a stage 1. Just email Jason and tell him it's for a Z32 (and whether you got a NA or Turbo transmission and flywheel). These clutches are CHEAP for what they are and I LOVE mine with the little driving I've done on it.

You're going to need a flywheel from a Z32. I'd been advised by a few guys who had lightweight flywheels and didn't like them, so I picked up a factory OEM flywheel from someone who upgraded for less than $50. Make sure to get it resurfaced. It's also important whether the transmission you got came out of a NA or turbo Z. Make sure to get the same flywheel (and clutch) so your starter will line up.

A few things I hadn't seen mentioned before I did mine and found out after a lot of stressful attempts.

1) The pilot bushing included with the clutch kit with either need to be ground down slightly around the outside or the inside of the VH crank will have to be opened up slightly. I got several bushings to go in without modifying them, but they were too big and the ID shrank to where the clutch alignment tool wouldn't line slide in.

2) You MUST notch the block to install the Z32 starter! You will probably have to extend your starter wiring harness (one big 2 gauge + cable and a signal wire).

I can't say for sure, but I think the sensors from your Q transmission WILL fit the Z32 transmission if the connectors aren't the same. I double checked the part number a while back and my reverse switch was identical in my 2000 Pathfinder transmission as the old z31 300zxs. Nissan tends to keep a lot of that the same.

Good luck..let me know if I can help out more.

Forgot to add...you'll need 8 300zx flywheel bolts. Nissan part number 12315-30P01. They're much cheaper to order from Courtesy (like 5.XX) verses 10.61 from your local dealer.

Thanks dude, Ill definitely take a lot of that in.

I got an NA Z32 Transmission for the car, So I should probably get a Stage 1 or Stage 2 clutch since I do plan to take this car to the track (Showing up ricers in my semi-aircraft carrier Q45 would be great.) I didnt know I would have to use a Z32 Flywheel, I didnt think it would bolt up to the VH45DE but if it does that saves a lot of work.

Thanks again,Spence

No problem. I found out the hard way that Z32 flywheels are the only VG engine equipped vehicle (that I know of) that came with an 8 bolt flywheel. Somehow they fit perfectly on the VH crank. I'm really happy with the feel of the stage 2 clutch. I expected it to be way stiffer than it is considering it can hold something like 470 lb-ft of torque. I'm really impressed so far.
