I haven't hardly heard anything about Competition Clutch. I'd rather stay with brands I've heard good things about (Exedy and RPS). If its that great a deal its usually not that good of quality.Salem240 wrote:I was thinking the same thing when I was looking for a clutch/flywheel combo. The thing I dont like about the stock replacement is the revs are sluggish and I was worried that if I used a stock clutch it wouldn't handle my abuse. While I was researching I came across Competition Clutch, it sounded like a win/win. They have a combo with a stage 2 clutch and a LW flywheel. The clutch has a kevlar disk and stronger pressure plate for a higher holding cap. than stock. the flywheel is 14 lbs., instead of the 11 lbs. like fidanza, so its a happy medium with a little quicker revs and not as much torque loss as the fidanza. Plus the combo came with the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, alignment tool, replacement bushing, and the flywheel all for $450 shipped. I thought it was a great deal so I jumped on it, they are on sale through Feb., the price going back up to $599 for the combo. All you have to do is put Competition Clutch in the search bar and the sale thread should come up. I dealt with Jennifer at Competition Clutch, shipping was quick and looks like a quality product.I haven't had a chance to install it yet, I'm waiting on warm weather.
Hope this helps with your decision .
So if my car is stock with only injen intake and pretty much a daily driven car in the city, a lot of short trips, in your opinion, would a lightweight flywheel be a good performance upgrade?? I heard you lose some power coming out of 4th into 5th and people saying its harder to drive starting from idle which I do a lot of that since I drive a lot of short trips in the city. Thought about one not as light as the Fidanza 11lbs but haven't found any. Saw one that was very expensive though.Roger_cha wrote:well competition clutch is good brand... but lighter flywheel dont make you lose torque, cause i bought a clutch and flywheel kit from ebay yea its ebay the clutch that i bought is call xtd clutch and 11 lb flywheel. but when i received the clutch kit i notice that my pressure plate is exeddy, hook it all up drive for about 7 months now no problem and i notice alot of power gain from it. well you wont will fill like there is no torque when driving normal and when you havent break in the clutch yet but when you push it or launch it now thats were the power is at. but hey thats my experience other might feel different..
Ok, I'm thinking about this brand now. I want a similar pedal feel to stock. My clutch has always felt good to me. Its firm but not stiff and its certainly not spongy. Would I want to look at the stage 1. Wonder if I could get a deal on the ST flywheel with this clutch. Do you or anyone know abt the quality of their flywheels?Salem240 wrote:I was thinking the same thing when I was looking for a clutch/flywheel combo. well for mine i dont loose top end power cause i have the peak performance solid transmission mount and nismo motor mount so my car rattles alot but yea its a little to drive starting from idle but when you break in the clutch and you get used to it then it just drives like a stock clutch. id say that i gain alot of power from just the 11 lb flywheel and the 6 puck clutch.95se wrote:
