I got into my car today and the clutch pedal was on the floor with no pressure, and my fluid reservior was empty. I'm thinking it's the master or slave cylinder. Does anyone know how I can confirm which one it is ? Well the simple answer probably would be check for fluid leakage I suppose...

Any input on fixing this would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you see fluid around your clutch master, then it's the clutch master cylinder. If not, then it's something down below around your slave cylinder.

thanks.. that's what I was thinking....

I've put back some fluid in my reservior, and to no surprise, the pedal is still flat on the floor with no pressure. Is there a way to put the pressure back on, despite the leakage (and hopefully see fluids leak out)? ?

Your fluids have drained the fluid out of the system. The pedal will go flat against the firewall. You need to bleed the air out of the system, but since you're going to end up under the car to do that, might as well find the leak at that point and fix it.

Assuming you open your hood everyday being a 240 owner... You must have a big leak if your clutch master is empty therefore not a small hole in your soft line but do check it. This is how I would check it with 1 man brake bleeding system.

Fill your master, check for leaks around it... If no leaks pump clutch go bleed out air, while bleeding air look for leaks get up refill master repeat. you do not have to make your clutch hard to find leaks, but you might not be able to pin point a location without someone working the clutch for you, while your checking under the hood or car.

Same problem, my master had a leak so I lost the pedal. Since I had to open the line inorder to remove the master, I also replaced the slave considering the age of the vehicle and the possibility of the slave going bad. Cost for both was about $100 at Nissan.

Yeah I too had that problem. The bad news is if your pedal went to the floor with no fluid in it, you may have ruined the clutch master seals. Thus you will probably need a new master cylender. Thats what happened to me, but try to bleed it first.

100 for oem both parts is a pretty good price.
