i read some write ups about taking the clutch fan off for a small increase in throttle response and using the electric fan behind it. Will this effect the way the engine cools? should you add a bigger fan? any one do this

I did it for a friend but it was strictrly because he bought a car that had no fans at all and his car was overheating.

I would not recommend using that little fan as your primary source of cooling, at the very least get a 10'12'' e-fan from advance auto parts.

This is very common. You can use the elecric fans from an altima and wire them straight into the 24o. It will increase your throttle response and prob. fuel mileage. There are alot of writeups on this and how to wire them up. Try SEARCHING a little harder next time.

I pulled my clutch fan and wired the small electric AC fan to be on whenever the ignition was turned on. It worked fine for me and the engine did run a little bit cooler.

3 VERY Important things though.

To do this right you REALLY want a thermostatic switch. You do not want the fan running constantly, it will drain the battery whenever you have the key on and the engine not running, along with possibly leading to the fan failing.

2nd. A different fan is highly recommend. I live in NY so the temperature doesn't really get that hot. Down south it may be quite different how your operating temperature turns out. SO more airflow is always a better thing, plus i don't really trust my engine to a 14 yr old AC fan.

3rd. Dual fans is the better way to go, have one turn on at one temperature and the other turn on at a slightly higher temperature.

just search some more for fan options and you should be fine.
