ok i have done some research on clutchs. it seems act makes a very quailty street set-up. i am looking at buying the extreme clutch that holds 33ft lbs. i have read that they under rate thier kits by a little. my set-up now is basically stock but i plan on running the JGS kit with aem ems maybe pushing 15psi if i can get the tune i want. i am trying to get my car turbo ready so when i turbo it there are LESS suprises (i know there will still be some) how does everyone like the act extreme clutch?

how is the feel? i was doing some "spirited" driving today and noticed if i shift fast enough the clutch will slip rather easy for a second or two. not a bad clutch but i would rather hear wheel spin. also who has the best prices on these, i will probably be ordering a b&m shifter at the same time.

I have the ACT street disc, with Xtreme Pressure Plate.. I love it.. has a nice feel to it, isn't too bad for daily driving either... has a lot of holding power.

Thats EXTREME!

ACT's tend to work decently in my experience.

id suggest staying away from spec... i ran one on my kat and i thought the transmission was going but when i took it off and put another clutch on it ran smooth. the clutch chattered like a mofo and would make a weird grind noise. it was a stage 4 by the way.

ok so i have not read alot of bad about spec clutches so i went to thier site. it seems like the stage 2+ or stage 3 are what i am looking for. i am looking for a firmer clutch that will hold the power i am looking to make anyone have some input on them. and they are cheaper!

I'm hearing good things about the XTD clutch from ebay. $150 and people say they rock. The specs are about $300 off Enjuku racing.

I know, it's hard to believe a clutch & pressure plate for $150 would be any good at all but people are saying good things.

if it only holds 333 lb ft (i believe thats what it is, since your typo only has 2 digits) then it wont be enough for 15 psi on the jgs kit

you have to remember thats flywheel horsepower the clutch is holding, theres people making over 330 lb ft at the wheels with jgs around 15 psi, being safe about it thats close to 400 lb ft youd need the clutch to hold

I have the 400ft*lb rps clutch. I love it. Not streetable at first. But got use to it. And 1st to 2nd shift is always a hard shift regardless of what you do....unless you going down hill.

I've installed 2 XTD Ebay clutches, that are supposedly rated at 320+ft/lbs torque.

The disc itself is not so bad, but both cars now have the softest clutch pedal I've ever felt because the pressure plate SUX. Granted, no one wants a really hard clutch pedal, but the stock pedal is notably harder than the XTD pedal (in terms of pressure).

I can't say as to how much torque they actually hold, since neither car has been tubocharged yet, but I can say that the action on the clutch is slow.

Which one? The puck clutch? I have heard of some people getting weak pressure plates while others have no complaints.

ok I have the xtd 6 puck and its softer that the stock btw I have it paired w/fidanza flywheel ..after i broke in the clutch it grabs like a mofo feels like am going to chirp third gear tooo . ive done all the n/a mods you could do to the ka except the underdrive pulleys ..electric fan, custom short short ram 3 in exahust, 248/232 cams and engine was rebuilt 10k miles ago .but my car is not turbo yet I will be running a T28 pretty soon ,hope this clutch grabs then.

sorry for the long post .

but its not that bad of a clutch and for the price cant go wrong unless you got money to blow $300 on a spec or exedy go ahead their the best in clutches .but if you are cheap like me xtd ftw.

Hey to everyone!I have ebay XTD clutch with 6-puck disc , it does make some strange noises from time to time, but it works OK. It holds power with no problems so far (8 psi from a t3/t04e), chirps tires all the way through 4th on the track. The clutch is about 7 monthes old now and has about 40 track pases. But it's only my experience, remember that you get what you paid for.

Forget how firm it is - how well does it grab?

I am also a big fan of the RPS max series clutches. Very high quality part, and if you get the sprung hub (available even with their 6 puck version), imo the clutch is VERY streetable. Only difference I really noticed was the pedal is a little heavier.
