Hey fellas, so i recently started getting a clutch "chatter" every time i am in the lowest gears 1-3 but not on the higher RPM band. So i keep reading that this is normal, but then again it's kind of annoying and was thinking of taking it to the dealer under warranty. It is a 2007 G35C 6MT with 40K miles. However, i have test pipes installed (sorry environment, i'll recycle my beer cans) So should i put back my cats before even setting a foot at the dealership? Thank you guys and gals. And has anyone experienced this "chatter"?

I have an X so no Chatter here. X has Automagic box.

The Clutch is wear item. Not sure if dealer would do anything for free under warranty. You can try it won't hurt.

well, because of the lightweight trans housing and aluminum design, clutch chatter is audible and normal. Unless its really loud. Then the dealer can do a warranty repair or at least partial warranty some items.

+1 clutch chatter is originated in the transmission. Lightweight design has noise and that comes through the clutch/flywheel. Thats one of the main reasons that Infiniti/Nissan used a dual mass flywheel...to reduce noise.

Its odd that you would say that, because I think it sounds cool too, kind of like a pressure relief valve on a turbocharged vehicle or the no resonance growl of a first series V35 sedan under deccelleration. Or the VVEL overlap on the VQ motors from 3 to 4 thousand rpm you hear with an unrestricted intake. Clutch chatter never actually bothered me...

Does it chatter while in neutral idling? It could be that your flywheel springs are starting to lose tightness and the weights are not balancing it like new...

I've had mine for almost 2 years and it's always had a slight rattle. I'd be concerned except my 240 had the same rattle for the 3 years I had it too and I daily drove the hell out of that car.

What do you mean by clutch chatter? I think of it as vibration, sometimes severe, just as you release the clutch pedal. It goes away as soon as the clutch is fully engaged.

My old RX-7 suffered from it for 24 years and 190k miles. When I gave the car away, it still had the original, chattering clutch.

Our Subaru wagon started out with the same problem which I demonstrated to the salesman during the test drive. The dealer voluntarily replaced both clutch and flywheel under warranty before I took delivery.
