I have searched on this, but only found that maybe there is oil on my flywheel or something. Here is the deal. I have a 89 240sx fastback that in which I will change the transmission and differential fluid this winter break.

However ever since I got the car, when my car is all warmed up, when engaging in first gear, just before I engage, my car shudders violently until I finally let my foot off of the clutch pedal. I read that this may be clutch chatter, but I do not know. My clutch does not slip because it pulls in all my gears. Anyone got any similar situations and an answer to this?

Can a flywheel warp? Mabey it needs to be resurfaced or something.

I have the same symptoms to. Going into first, and even 2nd now. 'Clutch chatter' is definitely the term, but i'm just assuming my pressure plate is going out. Who knows.I'm intending on getting a new clutch soon anyway.

mine will do that from time to time, i assume it to be the sprung center that does it, because mine is almost brand new, and it hardly ever does it, maby once a month

Ah I see. Someday I will find the answer to this, and then post it up if someone does not find an answer first. But for now, I will have to live with it.

same thing would happen with my crx when i would ease into a lower gear instead of speed matching it and then poping the clutch. i was running an upgraded clutch and pressure plate with a lightweight flywheel, so i thought it was due to the aggressive parts and not that something was wrong with the car.

Yeah, I am aware that with a ceramic puck clutch there is clutch chatter, but I doubt the previous owner of my car did any tuning what so ever. I will never find out till I change my clutch. How do I end this post, stop posting? I am somewhat at ease with this.
