I am full of questions today. I used the Mckinney mounts to install my RB25DETand transmission in an S13 as one piece. I was dumb and didn't replace the stock clutch which I will eventually need to do.Has anyone done the clutch replacement after it was installed in the car using Mckinney mounts? What I am wondering is if you had enough clearance to remove the transmission and change the clutch without having to remove the engine from the car? I know there are a few people on here that used mckinney mounts.. including Mac from mckinney, so any help would be great.

Like most Nissan you will need to rotate the trans to get it out and may have to jack up the front of the engine to get clearance to remove and install the clutch, the same procedures as the stock KA clutch replacement. Mack

Wait, wait wait wait. MACK, Is it possible and if so, How difficult is it to pull the transmission from the RB to change the clutch without having to drop the motor? The reason I ask is I need to start my swap so I can get the motor out of my friends sisters garage. I am waiting on a clutch from Japan and I would like to get the motor in and running asap. Then put the clutch in, in my own garage.

guys its not any harder with a RB than any other RWD nissan setup.

YES it can be done, very easily if you have the right tools. ive done one in under 4 hours on a 300zx.

just get a transmission jack and support the motor once you are ready to remove the transmission, lower it down a little to reach the top bolts then put the trans on the jack and lower twist and pull

will come off every time, just dont put too much weight on the input shaft of the transmission.

My concern is that with the mounts the motor is further back but lower. Before I attempt it, I am just wanting to see if someone using mckinney mounts has done it, and how much of pain it was to do. I unfortunately have to try this on Jackstands, so if I get half way into it and realize I can't do it without pulling the motor, I will end up doing twice the work.

WE have changed them here at the shop, on stands, It worked the same as a KA trans swap or stock clutch replacement a pain but do-able as the trans is in the same position as the KA trans.. Mack Call 909-304-9300 for any other help..

Thanks so much guys. Just knowing that it can be done is good enough for me to try it. Now I just have to find a clutch :)
