I just replaced my clutch on my 89 240 and a weird issue has popped up..The clutch literally only catches when i let go of it about 90%...is that normal? Do i need to break it in or adjust it? I replaced it with an OEM clutch.

Mine does the same thing, also one of the toyota work trucks i used to drive did the same thing I'm curious as to what causes this as Ive replaced the clutch throwout bearing, pilot bearing, clutch fork, pivot point, all the springs in the assembly, transmission itself slave cylinder and master, and clutch lines all to make sure everything was perfect as my Clutch slipped badly due to a bent clutch fork possibly pivot point.. Fork was only bent by like a mm or 2 but it wore a groove in the smooth part of the spline shaft where the throwout rested.

Either way after replacing everything now mine does that as well, although it grabs better except at higher Rpm shifts

Try adjusting the clutch rod as per the FSM
