I was driving my 2015 Nissan Versa Note manual shift on the Connecticut Turnpike. As I was shifting, the rpm's went up to 6000. There was a loud, grinding sound under the hood. I tried changing gear, even putting the motor in neutral and turning off the motor. The grinding sound returned when I turned the motor on. I continued driving to the nearest exit with the problem. After 3 or 4 minutes, the grinding stopped. I could smell a burning smell under the hood and in the cab for several days. I took my Versa Note to the dealer. He said I had a burned out clutch which would cost over $2000 to repair. He said I caused the burned out clutch because of the way I drove. He said I must have rode the clutch. He had an employee test drive the Versa Note on I-95. The same dangerous problem occurred during the test drive. The car had to be towed back to the dealership. I say the burned out clutch was a manufacturer's problem. I needed a car for work so I traded the damaged car for a new automatic Versa Note. I have written Nissan that I want to be compensated for my loss.
