Hey guys:

My RB26DETT clip will be here any day now, and I wanted to sort through a few last details to make the swap go super easy. I have sourced an RB30E transmission from New Zealand. It's been completely reconditioned...bearings, second and third gear synchro's, spline, slave cylinder, etc. Now before everyone starts going off telling me that the RB30E box is not strong enough...you should know that this box was rebuilt by one of the NZ authorities in circuit and endurance racing, and he uses an RB30E box in his 550 whp RB25 Skyline with exceptional results (even in 12-hour endurance racing). That being said, I am quite foggy on a clutch/flywheel for this box. I assume it's the same as the 2.5 liter clutch ("push" style), and even shares interchangeability with the Z32 box. Does anyone know for sure? I wanted to get this on its way so that there's no delay in getting the 26 into my S14.

Thanx in advance.

Scott

Probably because I got the RB30 box, completely reconditioned with synchro's, bearings, spline, a new slave cylinder delivered to the States for less than a ragedy old RB25DET box with God-only-knows what kind of driving history.

Not trying to be a wise ase, but: How about asking the source you got the trans from? Seems he'd know for sure....

That would be my first person to ask.Let us know what you find out...

CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL SHOULD BE THE SAME AS THE RB25DET OR RB26DETT. ALL THAT MATTERS IS IF THE SPLINES ARE THE SAME AS THE ENGINE.

Honestly I dunno anyone who has run the rb30e trans... so I dunno how much we can really help. What I can do is send you the old clutch (assuming I can find it, and you pay whatever they charge my fedex account) from my RB20DET trans and you can see if the splines line up... That will tell you ALOT.

The chap I am getting it though wrote:

"Type: push style

You can put ANYTHING in you want: Rb20/25/26/30. You can putin GTR clutch and fly and pressure plate or whatevercombination you want.

Tim recommended an RB30 clutch, GTR pressure plate and RB30flywheel. 30 clutches are larger than 20/25/26 ones, and areseriously strong. But you can put in whatever you want.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is grind off the locating pin. 30's havethem. No other box does. He said it's a 2 second job. Hedoes it all the time.

But put in what you want."
