All...I am in need of replacing the clutch/flywheel on my '05, 3.5L SE-R, and was wondering if anyone else out there with the 3.5L (SE-R or otherwise) has done a swap from the Dual Mass Flywheel to a Fidanza or other "non-dual mass flywheel" and if you did, what you thought about it after you did it? Did you experience any drive related issues, increased noise issues inside/outside the cabin, vibration issues at the shifter or driveline, etc, or even if you didn't experience these issues, would you do it again?

My SER is street driven, e.g. no mods other than CAI and exhaust and frankly, I'm looking at doing a competition sprung clutch(not race) simply because I dont like the "mushiness" and "grab" of the factory LUK clutch and pressure plates...BUT...I dont want to give up the drivability of the car.

Thanks for your opinions, facts, and thoughts in advance.

I have a lightened flywheel in my g35. There is a tiny increase in chatter under light acceleration between 1000-1500 rpm, but it is nothing I would be worried with. Now keep in the mind the lower you go in weight, the more noise there will be. I have the ACT street lite which comes in @ 16.9lbs. It was definitely worth the money and not having to pay that ridiculous price for the oem one.

RED_DET: Thanks for the input and info. Have you noticed any increased gear whine at highway speeds? And, if you dont mind saying, what clutch did you put in the G35? I'm looking at doing a Sprung, Exedy Stage 2 just so I have improved clamp throughout the RPM range of the motor and still have civility in every day driving.

I did not notice any more gear whine at any speed. Just a bit more gear chatter when accelerating from stop under light throttle between 1000-1500 rpms. After that was just as it was oem. Even under idle, the gear chatter seems about the same as it did with the dual mass. I just went with the oem replacement exedy clutch and act flywheel. If you are car is stock or lightly modded I don't see the need for an over kill clutch.
