I'm going to replace/upgrade my clutch before putting my motor (Series 1 RB25DET) in and was wondering how the clutch alignment tool works and if you need it or not? It seems like the clutch disc would be idiot proof to install, but I could be missing something.

And just for the record it's the non-turbo Z32 throw-out bearing that is required to match the new pressure plate to the RB25DET transmission, right?

The disc doesnt attach to anything until the transmission is on. All it is is a plastic turbo that you put in to hold the disc up while you bolt the pressure plate down. Yeah you need it but autozone sells them for like $1 or i have about 100000000 i could give you.

A "plastic turbo" eh? hahaha just kidding man. That's exactly how I pictured it being used. I'll just save us the hassle with shipping and go get one from NAPA or whereever. Thanks though

Chit if you can find one I looked all over atlanta for three days and no one had any. However if you buy a clutch kit most of them come with alignment tools.

Fresh idea... 1/2"/12mm sounds bought right.. maybe a little smaller.

Whatever you do, make sure you DONT get the universal cluch alignment kit. Those suck. If you are getting a new clutch, you should always get the clutch alignment tool. If not, just do what I did, and go to a mechanic and ask to borrow one.
