Hey guys..

I'm workin on the clutch right now and I had to use a hammer and screwdriver to chisel the pilot bearing out.

I got the flywheel on and I went to install the clutch, but the clutch alignment tool is bigger than the hole on the driveshaft hole. So I can't put the clutch alignment tool on to install the clutch.

Anybody had this problem before?

Thanks for the help!

Make sure you have the correct clutch kit. Does the clutch disc fit on the transmission shaft? Does the alignment tool fit through the clutch disc?

that's what I was curious about... the clutch if it is the right one... the clutch alignment tool fit thru the clutch...

I'm kinda having trouble fitting the pressure plate on. I have put it on top of the old clutch and it's holes all matched up.. and the clutch disc is the same size... Only thing is new clutch has 4 buffier springs vs 6 smaller springs.

THanks for the help.. any other opinions?

u prolly have wrong kit, or wrong pilot bearing installed.....

one or the other, or as a secondary more confusing option, you have the right kit just the wrong alignment tool........

goto a local transmission shop and ask if they have any input shafts you could burrow/rent/leave security deposit for.... t hats how we do it, those plastic alignment tools suck ***, we have an entire collection of real input shafts we use to align them

don't worry about the pressure plates looking different, most of em look different throughout the years of manufacture(they find better/cheaper ways to make it) or are just different from brand to brand....... as long as the actual pressure plate, the part that rides on the clutch disc is the same size as the disc, and it bolts to the flywheel with the right bolt patter and dowel pins its correct........

thanks for replying... Ran into more problems..

Went to auto store got a new alignment tool. Still don't fit...I sand it down a bit it fit snug so I used that..

Now the pressure plate bolts holes line up, but 1 of the dowel pin is slightly off. Other than that, the disc and pressure plate is the same size.

Why is this happening??? Cheap production?

The Clutch Kit I bought is NIssan 30001-Y06S1NW

This should be the stock kit for 92 Nissan 240sx.

THanks

I just can't get over how the clutch alignment tool doesn't fit right... even another one.....

I wonder if you have the wrong pilot bearing, if thats even possible... i.e. they make another sized one that still fits in the crank.......

you could be in for a rough time trying to stab the transmission in there if the pilot bearing is wrong....... who knows give it a shot though, it might go in easily.......

as long as you got the alignment tool in there you will be good on clutch alignment.......

dowel pins aren't really nessecary, they just make life 10x easier when putting on the pressure plate, the bolts actually hold it on........ if all else is the same size, I guess u don't have much to worry about if it all goes together
