Hello this is my first post on this site. I have a 1998 Frontier 4x4 5 speed with 94000 miles. I bought it new and love it. Lately I have noticed that shifting from 1st to 2nd gears and then from 2nd to 3rd isn't smooth. It isn't grinding but doesn't engage smoothly. Just had new shocks installed and also power steering pump replaced. Do I just need adjustment to clutch or is there something more involved? Appreciate any help.

your clutch is actuated hydraulically and requires no adjustment. have you ever changed the fluid in the trans?

Thanks for your reply. I stopped at my instant oil change business (Valvoline) and asked them to check my fluid and the guy said it looked kind of "milkey", whatever that means. Anyway I told them to change it and I can tell some difference in shifting, although it has warmed up here somewhat and it seems to shift worse when the temps are really cold. "Anyway I believe it is probably okay. Thanks for your help.

glad to hear it. if it acts up in the cold again, you may try an oil stabilizer like lucas.
