Hey, so, lately my clutch has been acting wierd. I adjusted the clutch pedal hieght a while back, and have been having problems since then. it seems that when it is colder out, the clutch grabs when the pedal is only a little ways off the floor. when it is about 22 Celcius, the clutch works normally. But when it is about 28+ it becomes stiffer, harder to push down, and ingages not until the pedal is almost all the way up, and when it is really hot, the clutch will actually slip when put under force. What could be causing this? What could I do to stop it from happening, and what should I try to adjust to stop this? I've bled the clutch, and it is still happening, someone has told me to try bypassing something? any help would be great, thanks.

Sounds like your clutch is on its way out. I had the same problem when my clutch was on its way out. When it was cold, I could still somewhat drive it. But when my clutch got hot, it slipped even with the slightest throttle input.

Bypassing the damper will not make a difference. It is still a good idea to do because it will make it significantly easier to bleed the system, and it will add a little to the pedal feel. In order to bypass the damper, you just disconnect the hardline from the start of the damper loop, and bend it so it reaches the softline that goes into the clutch slave cylinder. You will know the damper loop when you see it. It is right by the passenger side frame rail about halfway down the car. It is a couple metal boxes, and a big *** loop that runs down the frame rail and then back.

That's wierd, because my clutch only has about 600 KMs on it, as the car is a project car. But it could be possible, because after I adjusted the pedal, it was fine, but a little while later, I was driving it down a backroad testing it out, and suddenly it stopped accelerating and rolled to a stop, I couldn't get the clutch to contact the transmission, I dragged it home, and put the pedal back to where it was, but then I started having this hot/cold problem. I'm really not looking forward to having to drop the transmission if that is the problem..

Did you, or someone you trust install the clutch? Was everything torqued down properly? Was the flywheel new or at least resurfaced? Do you have any leaks anywhere? Was the pressure plate new or remanufactured?

Me and my mom's ex boyfriend did it, everything was new, pressure plate, throwout bearing, new flywheel, the car sat for a few years, so we redid it all, it was all put together properly, and it shifted and ran well for about a year before it started acting up. And no, the car does not leak at all.

Maybe your master cylinder is going out then? I was under the assumption that this was an old worn out clutch when I first replied. Warm the car up so it starts slipping, and then check and see if the slave is loading the release fork at all.

okay, I'll have to do that on a warmer day, it is way too cold out today and will take too long to make the clutch slip. but I'll check that as soon as it is warmer out.

I would go about replacing the master and slave anyways. They are cheap, and easy to replace. Have you tried adjusting the pedal again, because it really seems like the release fork is partially engaging the pressure plate. You should adjust it so you make the rod to the master cylinder shorter.

well, I bypassed that damper and it seems to be working a lot better, it doesnt change much from cold to hot, and I drove it today in like +32 celcius weather, and had no problem, I'm gonna keep driving it like this and see how it works out, it's shifting a bit better now too.

Is there anything I should check yet? I dont want to ruin my clutch if I use it, just any suggestions?
