Ok, I have a few questions. I've already done searches on this forum for a couple hours and still kind of shaky on what I need to do. O yea, the car is an 89 240sx coupe - digital hud - automatic transmission.

Situation: *RPM works, lights on cluster work, digital Speedometer & HUD doesn't work. *I pulled out the cluster about an hour ago and saw the "bad solder points" which were fixed a little while ago, but the problem came back. *A mechanic shop replaced my cluster w/ a few but problem would come back after a few days. I am now still with the original cluster.*ECU spits out code 14) Vehicle Speed Sensor

What I am thinking:*Replace both cluster & speed sensor, am I missing anything?*I want to do this myself, so detailed instructions will be great.

1) Where is the location of the Speed Sensor? I found out some text saying it was on the passenger side of the transmission being held down by a 10mm bolt, but can anyone be more specific? maybe even post a picture (I can post one if someone is willing to look at it).

2) The ECU error code is 14) Vehicle Speed Sensor - Is the speed sensor really bad, or is it just the cluster causing this error?

3) Anyone know how much speed sensors cost?

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU GUYS HELP!

the speed sensor is the cluster[ speedometer portion of cluster to be more specific] . The pick up in the trans is only a signal generator and is NOT the speed sensor on the car. The speedometer is you likely failure.

Thanks a lot, that helps me out a lot. Now I can go buy the cluster without having to worry about engine parts.
