clunking sound when turning, help?

well after having a bit of fun with the car this past weekend,
i've noticed a strange, semi-rough clunking sound coming from what feels like the rear right.

i have a welded diff so im used to the occasional chirping when turning at slow speeds,
but when i turn right, it's a loud clunking sound that i can hear and feel.
soooo...
turning left it sounds like chirpchirpchirpchirpchirp...
turning right it sounds like clunk...clunk...clunk...clunk.
sorry for the lame sound effects

anyone have any ideas of what could be the cause?

btw, the car drives fine and everything, just turning right is rough,
the car "jolts" to the left slightly every "clunk"

My welded diff was making quite the racket for the past couple of weeks. Same sound you're describing. Pull the diff and make sure everything is torqued down and that it has enough fluid. Reason why I recommend doing so is because this happened to me the other day.





Most of the time it's the axles making the noises, as well. But it never hurts to check.

check everything in the rear end make sure your struts are fine and nothings leaking or broken on the axels.
also check the studs on top of the struts to make sure they havent sheared off it happened to me and turning hard in one direction would make some weird noises n feelings

Needless to say? drop the diff and open it up and look at whats going on.

Have a friend help you put it back in. Alone is not the best idea.

Hey seanzyyy did u figure out the problem? I could use some help because I have the same problem, only difference with me is that a have a 2 way lsd and the noise is coming from the left side
