Good day, thought I would get some thoughts on a problem I am having with my 08 Altima Coupe (3.5 SE Manual). When the engine is cold or mildly cool I hear a clunking sound when I first accelerate. It happen when I am under 20 mph and only when I first start the car.

I took my car to the dealership and they had it for two days. They checked all the bolts and rods. They found no damage and connect the Nissan Tech Line. They eventually told me that the ABS actuator will engage everytime my car is started to run a test. If you listen they said you can here a clunk noise when this happen. Is this normal? I find it hard to believe that only my car would make this sound since they have never heard it before. Any thoughts? What should my next plan of action be? Having had the car for 2 months now it worries me. I have less than 2500 miles on the car.

Thought maybe someone here could shed some light on it.

I feel it about 30 feet after I start driving ---I can really feel it in the gas pedal. Why does it do this? Seems odd for a car to make such a sound.

I thought it was odd as well ... I was relieved that others heard/felt the same thing & eventually I did read about it in the owners manual.

Yea I just read about it as well on page 5-22 I believe. Just seems odd. My friends can buy a cheap Corolla and it its perfectly quiet but I have the "nice" car and have to deal with the loud clunk sound.

I don't even notice it anymore. It is what it is. We know it's not a bad sound

if that's your only complaint just give it time. you won't even notice it in another month. and referencing a corolla as a comparison to the altima coupe is just not right at all.

actually, I used to notice it, then after I did my big sound deadening install I never heard it again, probably because I have the whole floor covered in sound absorbing material.

It seems a little odd to me that all of a sudden all these clunking noise posts are being created. Is there a connection, like, are all the cars that have been mentioned built at the same time I wonder? Or maybe nissan made a slight change mid production and now the people who bought those cars are noticing it together? Weird.
