Clunking like two metal pipes hitting each other or whining/hissing like fast spinning metal on metal contact?

its more like a thump, it feels like i am gaming the clutch out real fast even when i let it out slpwly, its not a metal sound but you feel a jolt in the car when it happens.

Well I am getting a new diff, and the bushing are polyurathain and they are newer.... if we are talking about the same thing, the bushings as in the inserts that hold the diff in place; I need a whole new rear and I want a new driveshaft as well.

And why is the bushing hard to change? From what I hear taking out the diff is not to bad but I might be mistaking

This is an old thread but I thought I might try my luck. I am getting a similar clunking sound when I let off the clutch quickly. Doesnt happen when doing it slowly or normal driving. But in my case I hear it where the trans is or right in front of it. And I also feel it i little in the pedal. The car is one Im looking to buy as a working project. 120k miles manual trans. All the fluids were flushed and the trans mount was replaced. Any Ideas guys?
