Are your bumpstops in there correctly? (just throwing it out there, we all make dumb mistakes sometimes)

I guess I didn't really even look... do the stance coilovers even have bumpstops? This isn't happening over huge bumps, it's more small bumps when the car jounces... It almost seems like it's the top bolt is loose, but I don't have an impact to tighten it... my electric impact is only like 100 ft lbs if im lucky...

If you look at page RA-17 of the 91-94 FSM, There is an exploded view of the rear suspension. Above the dust boot there is a metal plate and then a bushing then a "upper rubber seat" that looks like an ash tray.

I know what a bumpstop is, I just didnt think that the stance, or coilovers in general, needed them... they don't ever compress enough to warrant bump stops do they?

do you check to make sure you retightened the top nuts after you set the car down on the ground. Just a thought. I drove in an S13 that clunked in the back after a coilover install. Thats what It sounded like to me.

sounds like you installed the coilover on the with the bottom bushing that goes onto the hub backwards. if you look at the bushing there is a short side and long side. make sure you have the long side against the hub, if not then the base of the shock is rubbing against the hub when you hit a bump and the components flex enough for it to hit, making the clunking noise.

I dont recall which way I put it on, but I'm sure it's right... I remember looking at it and seeing that if I put it on the other way, it would rub the hub... So that's not it...

Mine is kinda doing the same thing. The clunking is loud as hell and it fells like I'm drive over rail road tracks. This usually happens when I am powering through a turn at lower speeds or when I step on it over a pothole. It only happens when I am getting on it though and never happens on a smooth straight away. I was thinking it was the dif of the subframe. My car is completely stock S14 SE with optional VLSD.

Any ideas people?

Check your your pillowball mounts. Most likely that is where it's coming from. Mine do the same thing. You can check it by jacking your car all the way off the ground and jerk the wheel or hub upwards you will here the play check both sides and you will see the difference if only one is bad.

Hope this helps. GL

try tightening your spring perch for your springs in the rear. more than likely its the top of your coilover bouncing up and slamming against the spring or the washer stopper that its suppose to be tightened to.
