Clunking in rear?!?!?!

I just purchased a 95 240sx and have noticed a clunking noice in the rear of the vehicle. Kinda sounds like the back hatch is rattling or something. I have checked the trunk to insure it is closed tightly. I was hoping that someone else may have experienced this as well.

check your lug nuts. i know this sounds very dumb. But it just happened to me and i kept on getting this clunking from the rear and my lug nuts on the tire were lose. i forgot to check them after i changed my wheels. i know i know im dumb but it happens to the best of us.

is it coming from under the car. I had a S14 that needed diff bushings and rear subframe busings, it cluncked pretty bad between shifts.

It did need subframe bushings...i replaced them and the knockin(actually sounded like the rear end was about to fall out, lol)stopped. But there is still some rattling and it sounds just like the hatch is not shut. I have actually ridin around in the back while a friend drove trying to figure it out. I was thinking maybe it was just worn out struts. I just bought some tekico adjustables to put on it.
