When i shift up or down and let the clutch out harder without any gas it makes a clunk in the rear of the car. When i slip the clutch more it doesn't do it. I can't feel it through the clutch so i'm thinking that it could be the universal joint? any help would be appreciated.

yeah, mine does it too. do you also get the clunk, say, in 5th gear? like, let off the gas, then hit it again, and you can feel/hear it going "clunk"

I've heard clunks like this in audis, sometimes the bushings that hold the differential to the body go bad. A shock to the system bangs some hardware together. Something to look at before chasing u-joints.
