When you hit some bumps in sequence ( such as ruts and in the frozen snow here in Edmonton) you can hear a distinct clunk from the rear end.I have removed all the lose items in the back, checked the hatch which seems tight. Sounds like maybe a bad strut??? My son narrowed it down to the left rear wheel area.Any ideas. Will have to take the car in to the dealer I guess Paul

I have occasionally gotten a clunking noise. I have attributed it to the very cold weather as it does not do it in warmer conditions (above freezing). The source could be anything, snow and ice caught in the wheel/suspension area, suspension bind due to cold weather hardening up the bushings, etc.

Thanks, just came back from the dealer, seems to think it may be the swaybar bushings, which need to be lubricated. I had this problem with my Mitsu Outlander as well. Not sure if its temperature related as it started last fall. Next service I will have them lubricate the bushings.

Well the clunk was getting worse and decided to take it in today. The rear shocks need to be replaced. This is ridiculous, I have only 20000km on it. not driven offroad, just regular use. I traded my Mitsu Outlander in for problems with suspension, now my Rogue???I love my Rogue, but the CVT replaced and now the shocks, when the car is only one year old, I am really wondering about the reliabilty. To top it off parts are on back order, could be 3 days or 3 months.

That does suck. I've always thought the back end sounds kinda clunky when going over certain bumps, but have finally decided that it is the normal sound the suspension makes. I'm tired of complaining about noises, because in addition to the replaced CVT I have had a severe squeek in my steering wheel/column that they've attempted to replace 2 times, each repair costing around $600 in warranty work, and the noise has now returned again which will require a 3rd repair for the same problem. Also, I've got an intermittent rattle/vibration in the front end when going over certain sized cracks/bumps in the road.....so I'm getting tired of complaining and it's getting harder to remain optimistic.

My one year service is coming up, which is supposed to include inspection of all suspension components, so I'm assuming if there is a problem they will catch it under the inspection without the need for me to complain, what do you think?

I am somewhat frustrated about all of this, but decided I still have warranty and as long as all repairs are covered I am just not going to get excited about it anymore. If this continues after warranty expires I will decide what to do. We still love the car, the mileage, handling, the interior design etc etc. My service manager assures me this was just an isolated issue and that he has not had any other cars come in with the same issue.Paul

I am having exactly same issue with my Rogue. First time replaced the shox, it was better for couple of weeks then became worse. Second time removed rear stabilizer bushings, clean and lube. Still No luck.

Hi NicoClub users,
First time post for me.
Great to hear that the rear shocks could be my problem because i hate this clucking noise coming from the back since
quite some times now, i would say a 8 months, this 2009 SL AWD has only 26000km on the clock.
From now, i empty the cargo erea as much as i can to find the probleme but no luck, i will have this checked soon.
Happy new year to all.

Welcome Looll to the NICOClub Rogue Forums!

Your vehicle is still under warranty. Bring it in and have it looked at.

Another common issue of noise is stabilizer bar end links. They really take a pounding on rough roads and I've replaced my front ones at 100,000km already.

Hey all - we too have had a slight clunk in the rear of our 2009 Rogue. My wife has been convinced that it's the rear hatch, but I've checked it multiple times... I'll try replacing the rear shocks.

We recently had a HORRIBLE clunk from the drivers side front - it was a bad front strut - at 50,000 miles.

I hear you guys though - love the Rogue, but getting tired of all the little issues...
