On our 2017 Quest (3.5L w/CVT), occasionally when going from R to D there is a half second delay when the CVT engages forward that produces a pronounced "clunk". I don't shift it fast either.

Doesn't happen all the time - maybe 25%. Is this a concern?

CVT's in general transition from D-R and R-D slower than a regular A/T, so a small delay is normal. The clunk isn't normal, but it's more likely to be a sloppy CV joint or torque mount than the tranny itself.
