Hi Group, just got my first Infiniti, a 2000 QX4, great car, 114k, rides great, but everytime it hits a bump, it feels like something is clunking under the drivers floor pan. I put it up on my ramps and pounded around, nothing seems to be loose. There are no leaks, and the guy that had it before me had pretty much everything done as per the manual, by the dealer, so it has been maintained well.

Anyone ever have this problem? Suggestions?

I also had a 1984 Nissan 200SX Turbo, currently have a 55 corvette, 60 T-bird and my regular car is a Blazer with 193k, still runs great.

Thanks for any help you can give me. I work on all this stuff myself...

If they've never been replaced, it's probably your stabilizer links.Common issue on higher mileage R50's, and an easy DIY fix.

I would say its either the struts or the stabilizer links

Wouldn't the strut show signs of fluid leaking? I will check this, thanks for the info.

stabilizer rods. if it is the tie rods to stabilize the rear axe, as they did in front, i am investing my money on them; and propeller shaft flange which enters diff case. greasing inside it and rotating the shaft prom its original position up to 180 degree, will mostlikely cure the problem. I was facing same think on my R50, i did exactly what i described over, and it is reduced to minimum.

Now, i rebuilt my transmission, they removed the rear shaft, i think they installed the sahft in the original orientation so it causes a little thump feeling when i release brake , or right before stopping when braking. i need to check once more. (definetely less evidend shifts on any gear changes)
