So i am still a nebie here and i got questions. Rb20 swap running rb25 turbo at 10 psi car wants to bounce up and down on the tack at idle, likes to kick out smoke in the first couple gears when i start it,and when i sit at idle and hit the gas a little when it revs back down it makes this strange clicking noise Trying to get this running at a good strong 250 to 300 hp for a daily driver but i have all these little things holding it back, suggestions and help would be definatly appreciated

Maybe it's the way you typed all of that, but it's difficult to understand what the car is actually doing. Maybe post up a video or something?

sorry cj , you have helped me with questions before. The car at idle likes to raise on the tach from about 700 to a little over a grand when it idles ,just bounces up and down, as far as the smoking issue , just does it when i first drive it through the first couple gears until it warms up makes me think i might have some blow by a piston so when it sits and cranks back up it is just burning off the oil that is getting by, and the rattle noise its hard to explain when i rev it up and the trottle backs down i hear this damn rattle noise and just cant figure out where it is coming from. all your experties would be of great help thanks.

Hmm, the hunting idle kinda sounds like a bad MAF (but it could be a lot of things.) Try disconnecting it while it's running and see what happens.

What color is the smoke?

About the rattle, with out hearing it, it could be anything from a loose bracket to a spun bearing. On that, i would stick my head under the hood and manipulate the throttle by hand at the throttle body and see if you can repeat the noise, then see where it's coming from.

For the erratic idle, I would try disconnecting the AAC (Idle air control valve) first. That is usually what will cause erratic idle. Also, what is your TPS voltage? A higher than normal TPS voltage will cause the ECU to freak out and may alos cause high idle.

Until an engine is warm, it is running richer to warm itself up. If you get on it when cold (which you shouldn't do anyways), more fuel is being dumped and will cause a dark/black smoke issue until warm and in closed loop.

As far as the noise goes, try to get a good video of it with a decent microphone. Or take it to an engine shop and let them hear it. We cannot help you to diagnose a sound over the internet without hearing it, smelling it, tasting it, etc........

Thanks for the help guys . I did just blow the front seal on my 20 turbo and blew a s*** ton of oil through out the system,cleaned the intercooler and the throttle but did not even think about the maf.Also could i have screwed up a coil pack with this oil blow through problem cause when i got the engine number three was bad so i just pinned in a maxima coil pack and its worked fine till now.As for the clicking there is a shop up the street from me i will get them to check it out thnks

So i have the strange rttle noise down to being on the intake side if my engine ,any suggestions?
