Hey everyone. So I'm looking into replacing my suspension. I have a 2003 pathfinder SE. I want a stock like ride but can absorb pot holes and bumps better. I was looking into the rancho 5000 for the rears but wasn't too sure since I've never heard of them till now. For the fronts I was thinking KYB GR2 but didn't think it would last long(40k miles).

Any opinions/suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi had both the Ranchos and the KYB's. Both did not last but then I was a rough driver during those years. I discovered that Bilsteins lasted the longest. My current bilsteins lasted about 40k and they need replacing now but again, I just went hard off-roading for 30 minutes x 30 miles of 100 or so mud pits. You know where the first 20 are fun but the last 100 are getting alittle old?

Other than that, my daily drive is thru the Michigan pot holes.

What mileage you at?

Just get moog springs front and rear off rockauto.com, they are dirt cheap (rear set is like $35) and they are fine ive had them on mine for a few months ever since i took out my lowering coils, also get kyb gr-2 struts and kyb gas adjust for the rear shocks... Parts will run you less then 400, but i also recommend you replace everything else when your taking it apart

Lower balljoints, tierods, stabilizer links, etc and you will also need a pair of monroe strut mate kits for the struts up front to replace rubber bushing and plastic washer

Also the price i said is just for shocks/struts/springs if you do the others itll be more,

Dont know if you have skills to DIY because labor for all this will cost more then parts probably.

I have 103k miles on the truck, just curious why would i change my springs? Also I agree with changing everything else like my balljoints and stuff. Also after looking at rockauto it gives me two part numbers, is yours 4wd because it seems like the cheaper one is meant for 2wd.

Just curious, what suspension symptoms do you have that make you want to change everything?

I have about the same mileage:
Changed shocks at 50k
changed tie rod ends at approximately 100k due to alot of reckless 'fun' driving. During my last outback ride, I drove thru about 50 deep pot holes, airborne 50 times and basically ruined the tie-rods, 2 shocks, and 2 springs. It's very noticable. I checked (banged on the arm using a rubber mallet) the upper/lower ball joints and they seem fine.

About the springs: on my old pathfinder '96, I went thru 2 sets but again, I really enjoy roughing it on the back roads here in Michigan. I think I might switch to the ones that everyone is raving about from Rock.

.
My plan is to replace my rear shocks/springs/bushings. I took my truck in for service and they stated the rear bushing need to get changed out. This was about 5k miles agom, i now have the rear in kicking out all the time and over bumps its the worst. So i wanna build from the bottom, I am the second owner of the truck and all the parts are still factory origional. Figured It was time for an upgrade, I drive down regualr roads no offroading at all. Just need something good for long road trips thats all.
