I was browsing around and looking for ka24de forged builds and I stumbled across this site, and while dealing with the pistons they said that they can "close up the ring gap" due to the construction of the pistons with 4032 aluminum, resulting in less blow-by...

I searched around and couldn't figure out what they meant, any clues?

when regular rings heat up they expand and if they expand enough to touch ends they will break because the forces are so high, so the gap just gives it enough space to expand under heat without butting heads and breaking. what that article is saying is that type of metal wont expand as much as regular metal therefore they wont butt heads as easily so the gap can be much closer.

because that gap will be much closer the compressed gasses wont exit the combustion chamber through the gap and pressure wont be lost, also oil wont enter the combustion chamber and be burned.
