Lets hear your close calls near misses or accidents!

Mine I almost got rear ended while pumping fuel at a gas station. A truck was reversing to line with the fuel pump but luck the gas attendant was there to stop the truck going any more further by less than a foot!! this happened while living in oregon.

This is a motorcycle one so I hope it counts.

Riding past a High School I see a girl waiting to pull out on the highway, dialing her cell phone.

Just past the school is a hill, a steep hill, right after the speed limit goes back to 55 from 20.

A car is waiting to turn left about 500 feet down from the crest of the hill. About 10 cars are piled up behind the car that waiting to turn.

As I top the hill I see brake lights. I managed to stop. Then I remembered the girl, on the phone who was pulling out right behind me. Without even looking in my rear view mirror, I pulled up beside the car in front of me, to the right.

Sure enough as blondie tops the hill she locks up the brakes and skids about a foot from the car that was in front of me.

I dropped the kick stand, grabbed her phone, still at her ear and chucked it in a cow pasture. Got back on my bike and rode off....

With the Versa, two in the same spot; anyone in this area will know EXACTLY where I am talking about.

Going west on the 210 in San Dimas at the 57/210 merge.

First one: Lady in a Cadillac comes off the 57 and comes left across the double white line divider without even looking. If I hadn't been paying attention I would have been wiped out. Fortunately no one was left of me and I was able to brake hard and get left a lane. She kept on going over to the left lane across all three lanes of the 210 without looking, almost getting the guy in the fast lane, too.

Second one, same place: same merge, guy in a car whips around an 18 wheeler and cuts him off. Truck goes left; I panic stop. I guess if I were in a car that were shorter I could have just gone under the trailer like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation.

I've had some other close calls, too, but not as serious as those two.

You're my hero!!!

I think if you cause an accident and you were having a conversation more than 60 seconds long, it should be considered felony assault. It's one thing to quickly answer a call, but some people have the d*** things permenantly glued to their ear.

I remember reading that in one study, drivers on cell phones were proven more dangerous than drivers that were legally drunk.

I am in the car everyday with new drivers. So...guess what? They try to kill me every day! 2-38 times a day!

Who is crazy enough to become a driver instructor?

second day in my versa i was heading to work, coming down the 110 in downtown LA... im in the fast lane, and out of nowhere an eclipse like 4 cars ahead of me decides he wants to slam on the brakes.... so a chain reaction of people slamming on the brakes happens.... i almost rear end the person in front of me, but i missed by like 5 inches or so.... but there are 2 more cars behind me.... so i hear a loud thump.... i pull over and look at my rear bumper, .... luckily my car wasnt hit... but the lady behind me got rearended by the car behind her....

living in ATL I have had many near misses. The worst one happened on a Sunday morning with my pregnant fiance in the car. I was driving down a hill approaching a light. The turn light was red and cars were backed up about ten deep in the turn lane. I was doing 55 or so when I approached the cars. As I got to the car in the back of the turn lane, a lady in a car three up jumped in my lane without looking. I locked up the brakes and swerved to miss her which put my car on two wheels, luckily the F 350 in the lane next to me was paying attention and slammed on their brakes so I had somewhere to go. The lady had slammed on her brakes and was sitting on her phone looking at us like we were idiots. For this reason I will probably make my kid learn to drive in a Versa, and I recommend never moving to Georgia.

I'm similar to that.. I'm a delivery driver in mine, and i have alot of near misses with idiots in my city... =/

It seems being a delivery driver makes you more prone, like people know your one even with no sign on your car.. x.x

Thanks!

I've been back from Iraq for almost a year to the day (the 13th). I spent a year there.

I'm more scared of a 17 year old with a cell phone than I ever was in Iraq.
