Just got done building my buddies motor and started it up and had some hesitation issues and was idling and running like total dog crap. After some diagnosing, we checked the spray pattern and was horrible. (probably from sitting for 1.5 years). I have heard on very dirty injectors you can soak the tips in sea foam and that's supposed to work. Any one vouch for this or have any other great ideas? I want to send them off and have them cleaned and flow tested, but he can't afford that right now.

Many years ago when i worked at a Ford dealership we used to do that with TBI injectors and it worked pretty good.Never tried it with any MPI injectors though. Can't hurt to try it!

He tried it and got alot out of them. however, I told him to soak them for like three days and call me when he is ready to put them back in and he DID NOT. Instead he got ahead of himself (has money, no experience) and only soaked then for 5 hours, reused the o-rings after sitting in solvent, turned the key on, sprayed fuel everywhere and caught his car on fire! So I'm waiting on him to pull the plenum and clean all the fire extinguisher powder out of it, and get new injector seals and soak the injectors longer to see the results. Ill keep everyone posted.

Alright! So after I cleaned the injectors for like a week (switched to a cleaner solution after first soak) Installed new o-rings, pulled intake manifold and cleaned out all the fire extinguisher. This car runs 1000 times better!!!! I haven't put a wideband on it yet to see if there are any lean spots but I must say.... definately feals like brand new injectors!!!!
