Hi everyone,

I'm a noob here and am asking for my mom.

2017 Armada:
Cannot use the NAV can't set a "home" it still shows for the previous owner.
Clock can't be set and it won't go past 2000 (guess the Y2K glitch DID happen) :lolling:
The XM works and I can save stations, I'm guessing the head unit needs a firmware and/or software upgrade?? I realize the maps are way out of date and could order a newer CD like most cars, but I don't really understand the non-functioning NAV and clock setting.

Any ideas, or help if it does need a firmware flash? Dealership was no help, they just said it prob. the head unit and they could order a new one but wants $$$$ for it.

Thanks,
JeffB

As for my Nissan loyalty - well, ex-owner - 94 - 300ZX 2+2 and 91 300ZX TT

The head unit on a '17~'18 is actually the display, it's a Denso design that Nissan calls a DCU. They're hideously expensive, IIRC about $3K new. If you get a used one, make sure the part number AND the sound system on the donor (Bose/non-Bose) matches your mom's. We've seen terrible issues with reconfiguration if the audio config doesn't already match (it can actually disable the whole unit). That all said, check all the fuses both under the hood and in the cabin before condemning the DCU. Lack of battery backup can cause some pretty weird symptoms on those, especially if mom's ride is equipped with telematics.
