As some of you may know from previous posts, I am in the middle of a project by taking some HID projectors from another vehicle, and putting them into the Versa's headlights. I have ordered 3 extra headlights, a pair, and an extra driver side to do all my trial and error on. It is a good thing I did this, because of the fact that these are one of the worse headlights to seperate the lense from the housing.
It took me 3 days working on getting the silicone on the headlight off and finally get the lense seperated from the housing on the test lamp. I now know exactly how to open up the lense without ruining anything on the real ones, but the work is so intensive it does end up scratching and cracking the lense in non noticible places once the headlight is put back together. Unfortuanately it has come to that due to Nissan for some reason not using their Butyl on the Versa headlights.
I will be incorporating motors to the HID projectors with a switch in the cabin to be able to adjust the aiming height of the lights while on the move, so I can compensate for a loaded car.
My other thing that I will be doing is taking the grooves and bumps on the parking light and the turn signal and making them clear like the rest of the light. I will then design custom LED boards in place of the halogen bulbs used for the parking and turn signal bulbs, and swapping their positions.
I will also be incorporating a fiberglass eye lid and making Angel Eye Rings like the BMWs have, and also a lighted eyebrow like the BMW 5 series has.
The HID projectors themselves are Bi-Xenon meaning that they are both high and low beam, NOT THE BULB. The projector has a metal shield in it to produce the cutoff line of light, this is what is used to not allow light to blind oncoming traffic or drivers infront of you through their mirrors. When you turn your high beams on, the shield is moved down via an electromagnetic solenoid which pulls the shield down allowing more light out and thus creating the high beam effect allowing light to travel higher and farther.
This is a very expensive project, and will be worked on as money allows. I am currently in the process of getting everything to fit correctly, and make any modifications that will need to be done. Everything will be getting a complete makeover, and made to look as if it was meant to be there, and not out of place. The point is to make it look as OEM as possible and not too blingy like aftermarket lights.
Here are a few pics of the design concept, and some progress pics.
This some of you may have already seen, this is the design idea, which is just the basic idea, it will look way better than this PS image is!
Here is after I finally got the lense off, I threw the projector in to get some ideas of fitment and the mods I will have to make to fit the projector inside.
I will be updating this post as I progress through my project so you all can get an idea of everything I am doing, and what I do for a hobby/living haha.
