I am going tomorrow to go talk to the owners of http://www.phase2motortrend.com about getting my S13 clip. I may order it tomorrow, but one thing I forgot about was how to get it up here. Does anyone know the dimensions on an average clip, and how much its going to weigh?

My dad has a Chevy 1500 Silverado with a tow hitch on it, and my buddy has a Yukon XL (don't know about the hitch). I could probably use one of those trucks, or what I would LIKE to do, is rent a U Haul and bring it home (about 60 miles). But I don't know if it'll fit in a U Haul, I'm assuming it will. Out of those options, what would be the best way to haul the beast home with me?

Also, for those of you who already bought clips. What did you guys do with your clips to keep it moble once you got it home? I still don't know how I'm going to get it out of the trailer/U haul when it gets here.

TIA.

best bet would be to find someone with a flatbed trailor and just have them use their forklift to put it on there. tow it back up, and then spend the next weekend pulling it apart. there is almost NO way you could move that with out quite a few people, so your best bet is to leave it on the trailor, strip it, and then work with the smaller parts

have fun ;)

I don't know anybody who owns a trailor. I have about 6 people who can help move it, but I don't even think that moving or lifting an entire clip is even possible. I may just have to bite the bullet and have it shipped to me. Damn.

usually when you ship the whole clip they require you to have a forklift there on site, i dont know maybe some shipping companies will have a forklift on the truck, but the few i have checked with require it for such a heavy item. you MAY want to check into it.

I know if you went with Daunttless, you'd be saving a lot of weight from getting it stripped down before it gets shipped, plus it will be ready to put on the hoist for the motor work

Hehe, I don't have any motors in right now. Also, did you check and see if they were going to charge you tax? And lastly, just request that they have a lift on the truck, thats what I do for people, it makes shipping cost more on my end, but oh well at least then people can get the engine out of the truck. : )

Hrm, I really wanted to get the full clip, because then we could see where everything went in case we came up with something we didn't know where it went. Oh well, maybe I'll just get a motorset. Or else get the clip, and have them disassemble it, and put everything in boxes. Then I should be able to get it into the back of my truck with an engine hoist, and getting it out would be about the same.

I guess then I wouldn't have to worry about getting rid of the frame. Grrr. I'm just at the beginning of my swap, and I'm already starting to see why people pay to have their engine swapped; and I've only scratched the surface.

Anyway, for arguments sake, Dauntless, do you know the measurements on a clip?

Thanks for the advice guys.

clips measure about 3 meters long by 2 meters wide by 1.5 meters tall. : ) So about 9-10 feet by 6-7 feet wide by 3-4 feet tall. : )

You have to have one of those heavy machinery licenses to operate a forklift here in Iowa. : )

you don't need a liscense here in MD, I worked in a warehouse using heavy machinery like forklifts. The only thing is that there is a federal law saying you must be at least 18 years of age to operate the machinery.
