OK, every time i rev my engine over 2500, rather in gear or not, there will be a clink clink clink sound coming from the turbo area. Anyone know wut this could be? how do i check if oil are getting to the turbo. I have stock s13 blacktop.

go under the hood and pull the throttle cable so you can locate exactly where the noise is coming from. You need to get the location before you assume its the turbo. to check the turbo, you start unbolting pipes from the turbo and look for oil, or you see smoke. If there is no smoke and no oil, then check for shaft play.

yeah there is a big difference from a blown turbo sounds and a bad rod bearing.

a blown turbo would sound like a grinding whining sound.

my bed if its a a clicking noise im almost positive its bad rod bearing and not the turbo, its only going to get worse from now. I would open up the engine check your bearings, micrometer and plastigage will be your best friend.

i did open the hood and it sounded very much like is coming from the turbo. How can i check shaft play? as far as checking rod bearings.. how do i do that? any other signs for bad bearing?

well the most common way to check your turbo is by wiggling the front turbine and see how bad it moves around.. try pulling and wiggling from side to side up to down etc. and if you can see down into the turbo from the front of the housing. see if there are any bent fins and score marks in the housing.

hopefully its the turbo making noise because checking bearings means taking the engine out, opening it up and measuring crank then the rod to see the oil clearance
