climate control question...why?

Okay, so i tore my hvac unit apart to replace a light, and i found theres a button for the ambient air temp on the inside, but no actual button to use it. Does anyone on here have that button? Ive never seen it. And i can assure you i will be finding a way to make use of it. Just wondering why they would do that. i know they have a lot uf universal parts but if you have the automatic climate control option, why would they cut part of it out...the internal button is located between the defrost selection and the temp adjuster. Im looking through some of my gadgets now to find the cleanest way to make use of it.

Huh? Is this for the Auto HVAC system? Do you have pictures of what you're talking about?

yeah its for the auto hvac. i dont know how to post pics on nicoclub. it may just be my phone, but i cant find a way to do it. on the auto control where the auto, econ, and off button are on the left side. and on the bottom you have defrost, recirculate, and the temp control. its on that set up. i actually said it wrong before, its in between the recirculate button and the temp control button. if you take the face plate off, and go inside the box, youll see little raised up places for buttons. well there was one extra and i pressed it. it works and everything, its not that i just had a universal rubber pad, the function works, but theres no external button to use it. im going to make use of it. and i need to find out if theres a way to post pics from my phone. when i pressed the button the screen said something like ambient 66 degrees. and when i first turned the car on it started out at like 80 and settled at 66. as i sat there it slowly went down from the cool air coming in. on the outside of the hvac unit on the bottom, its the raised up part. it sticks out farther than the rest of the casing.
