I can't get the Auto Climate control in my '94 Q45 to do anything but blow cold air. I'm kinda new to this model (previous owner of a '92 G20) so, I'm not sure what to look for or check out.

Thanks!

AC

Follow all the test proceedures in FSM to check sensor and acuator movement.Hopefully you don't have a failed [broken hinge] on the air mix door [locked in AC position or heater door. Did you recently buy car and not check for heater operation?Sometimes the doors break on 94-96 and this causes owners to sell in summer before winter? 10-14 hours of labor as the dash must be totally removed to swap the door.

Just speaking of the worst case situation.

Bought the car about a month ago (when, of course, heat ain't necessary in Arizona), so no...didn't check to make sure heater worked. Just got a set of the Infiniti service manuals from someone here (PDF format) so I now have the FSM troubleshooting guide. I'll get to checking that out later :O)

I checked the diagnostics on the auto amp, and it seems that code 25 (the sunload sensor) is either bad or disconnected. I have yet to check that, but I figured I would let ya'll know in case you had some info about it that isn't covered in the FSM (which one of the members graciously shared a link to download the FSM yesterday).

Thanks!

Intense AZ sun probably destroyed it, just kidding hope that's all it is!

Unfortunately the diagnostic proceedure will show the heater [blender]door good [if the hinge is broken] as it just monitors the position of the motor which turn the door [the shaft break occurs after the position sensor]..........headsup just in case.

If you need any parts.. let me know

Hopefully the sensor is it, but it does kinda sound like a mix door...

what does it do when you switch to ECON

Same thing. ECON works, but it never gets warm. All it does is blow cold air no matter what temp I set it to.

If you check the codes in the garage, the sun sensor will show bad. You have to be outside to get the proper test.

I was outside, although it the sun was setting after an overcast/rainy day. I suppose that would have caused it, eh?

Run it in the sun to be sure, should be plenty of that in Phoenix!

10-14 hours to take off the dash???? No wonder the car doesn't squeak...it's put together like a vault.

So if you got it repaired at a dealer, you'd be paying about $100-110/hour....that's a lot of money for heat. Just bundle up and keep the butt warmers on high.
