Hi,

I just bought a 1992 240SX SE Fastback (beautiful car, only 46000miles on it and i'm lovin it) and I just recently starting having a problem with the heater controls. I put it on defrost yesterday to clear my windows and now it wont go back to blowing through the regular heater vents. The lights in the thermostat/airflow buttons aren't lighting up now so it is pretty much stuck on defrost. I mean the blower is working, the heat is coming out, its only coming out of the "defrost" vents up by the windsheild. When i press the button to switch to the other vents, nothing happens. Usually their would be a sound of it switching over, and now there isn't? I've checked the connections on the back of the heater controls. Those are all connected. I've looked for the connections to the motor to change the direction of airflow also (to blow through the different vents; the defrost, face, face and feet, etc etc). I'm guessing that there isn't power getting to the controls. Anybody else have this problem before? Is there a hidden fuse that i'm missing? or did my heater just die?

All help will be appreciated....Thanks!Jordan :: aka arpop

it sounds like you have a problem in the control head since the lights arent coming on. the quest van had a problem in its control head that wouldnt allow the rear blower to work. the problem was a soilder joint on the circuit board in the control unit. if it is easy to get out of the dash may want to take a look at the soilder joints on yours. you'll be looking for a crack in the mounds about half way down. and it is usually the connector joints on the board.

Thanks for the help. Tomorrow I am going to "try" and take the control head out. I don't know if I will be able to or even how I am going to. Does anybody know the best way to take this out in this car?

Thanks,
