Climate control heat (or lack thereof)

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I was down in centre city Philly tonight (and for anyone who didn't watch the world series, it was raining and coooold, about 41 degrees) and heading back up 95 for my half hour ride home, I just couldn't get warm.

Tonight was the first rainy/cold night that I've actually needed heat in the car since I got it in May. It was rubbish.

I hit auto and set the temp to 72. I know it has to warm up etc etc, but after 5 mins on the hwy, I was still cold. I cranked it to 74, then 76, and incrementally over the space of 10-15 mins up to 86 before I would class the inside of the cabin as being cosy and warm.

Now, was this just me being a pansy or has anyone else discovered their heat isn't so warm?! My prior car was a Murano, and in Feb of this year I was in upstate New York, it was snowing, and the temperature readout outside was -5 Fahrenheit, yet the cabin was nice and toasty with the climate on auto and set at 72. The whole time I had that car I never had to set it much above that to keep the inside nice and warm.

Did you turn the AC switch off?

When you activate the climate control it (AC) turns on by default and even if you crank up the temp if the AC is on it might not be as warm as it should be. Try turning it off. Remember turn off the AC by hitting the AC switch and not the OFF switch which turns the entire climate control. This confised me at first but I figured it out now.

Were about 2 C here in Canada in the morning right now and I dont have this problem. Also make sure the air is coming from the outside (from engine).

Here is what I usually do to shortening the cabin warm up. Turn the temperature the highest possible (I put it to the windshield) and then when it is warm I just set it to the temperature I like and hit auto. I also use the heated seats. Sometimes only the heated seats.
