Climate Control Fan is on max all the time - '02 QX4

Hello -

A new problem on our QX4 cropped up. The fan for the climate control system seems to be on "high" all the time, regardless of how you change the temp setting, or try to change the fan speed setting, manually.

When the system is turned "off", the fan still blows - it blows out the floor vents at that point.

The AC blows cold, seems to respond to what the temp control is set at. I think it is just the fan speed that is the problem.

The Infiniti dealer just did the pass side airbag recall - the system was working fine prior to that. Ugh. Probably not related, but still, don't you love that?

I just ordered the fan control amp and the in-cabin filters. I have no idea if those have ever been changed.

Hopefully that will fix it.

Those in cabin filters will be absolutely gross if they have never been changed.
Take a pic if you pull them out and post it here. Ugh.

It was the fan control amp. I replaced it and the cabin filters and everything works perfectly again.

Sorry, Buzzman, the filters were dirty but not internet photo-really-gross-yuck dirty.

Thanks for the help, gang. I'm far from being good at wrenching, but the step-by-step writeup on this site is great and gave me confidence. I'm SO happy.

I'm actually disappointed. I figured that some new life forms had probably evolved in there by now.
