Hello everyone.

I just bought a 1993 ZX with a DEAD climate control panel (digital readout) and the radio missing!

I looked at the fuse panel on the left side (driver's lower corner) and all the fuses checked out fine...The are 2 x 15amp fuses for the AC function which are fine. It did not see any relays for the climate control anywhere. Also the AUDIO fuses (2 of them) seem fine as well.

I switched the climate control panel with one that works (from another ZX) and I still get nothing! No readout, no AUTO climate functions, no blower motor fan speed, no AC function, no heat etc - NOTHING!

I suspect there's no power going into the climate control panel....How do I test for power?? Which one of the wires on the back of the climate control plug (Black plug) supplies the power??

I also need to mention that all the wiring for the radio has been cut and exposed....The radio plug is missing. So that maybe have something to do with dead climate control panel but I'm not sure.... Can anyone comfirm this??

Any help on that to look for to fix the climate control functions will be appreciated....Thank you!

I found out from a friends '90 ZX that the same Climate control panel is connected to a 20-pin black plug in the back.

When the ACC (key in the ACC position) is ON the Climate panels gets power from a Brown pin and also from a Brown/yellow pin on the pIug....On my '93 on the same plug I get NO POWER at all on any of the pins.

Is there a Climate Control Computer on this vehicle and if so where is located??

maybe the connections or wiring to the CC computer are cut or disconnected.

Is there a relay or relays associated with the Climate Control panel I can possibly check?? If so where are they located...

Regards

There is a relay for A/C in the relay panel under the hood, it's a blue 5 pin relay.
I am having a similar problem with my car and it was not the relay.

If you figure out what's wrong with your post, and I will do the same if I fix mine

Thanks for the info....I will check and post if I find anything.

My vehicle is a '93 2+2 with a 5-spd but I do have access to a friend's 1990 ZX with Automatic...at the moment I'm comparing the wiring and functions between the to vehicles to better isolate the electrical issue with the non-functioning Climate control pod on my '93.

Like a mentioned above, the difference in the CC pod is that on the '90 ZX the pod get power on 2 (two) wires o when the key is turned on the ACC position (not start). Mine does not get any power at all. And also the RADIO wiring is cut and the only wire that gets any power when the ACC is tuned on is a BLUE wire....I don't have a constant +12V power source near the radio wiring (as is normal for most radio installations).

On the '90 ZX there is constant power source (+12V) at all times on a YELLOW wire for the radio....I need to find why there is no power source on mine and where the problem might be related to the Climate Control Pod.
