have the same problem, but not enough interest right now to get in there and fix it... only one of my bulbs is out though, so it doesnt hinder me as much.

take out the climate control and on the back of it there will be four blue round twist in lights. superbrightleds.com has the lights to replace them. they are neo wedge 4mm. youll need four of them. its pretty simple. nissans replacement part number is like 54575 w600 i think. but it will be more expensive and not look as good.

youll have to pull the clock/vent peice off..it just pulls out. then remove the two screws on the trim that goes around the cd player and climate control. there are no screws on the bottom so it will pull off after that. unplug the hazard switch and defrost switch along with the 12v plug. take the four screws out from the cd player and remove it. then there should be four screws on the climate control, then you push back on it to pop it out and it will come right out. it only takes 2-3 mins. the hazard lights and defrost lights arent replaceable unless you can solder. but on the back of the climate control there will be four blue round plastic plugs with a cross on them..they twist out and those are the bulbs for that.

I am looking to replace the white lights behind the Defrost/Rear Defrost. Not the Orange light that engages when the Defrost is engaged. Are the white lights an easy swap?

Changing out the lights in the rear defroster/hazard switch can be somewhat taxing. The switches weren't really meant to be taken apart once assembled, Nissan just advises replacement of the switch if the bulbs go out. I replaced the lights in the switches with LED's a couple of months ago and the dis-assembly is quite easy, but the problem is the re-assembly of the switches. If I could give you one tip, it would be to carefully examine how the switch goes together when you take it apart. Also, you have to be extremely patient when you are putting the switches back together, it will likely take you several tries. It took me probably about 20 minutes just to get each button back together and working properly; it probably took me about 10 tries per switch. Qxxx4 just did the swap and he puts some pics up in his recent post ( zerothread?id=456737 ).

You can't replace the orange LED's in the defrost buttons, well you can but it won't be easy. His instructions are exactly what you want to do. You need to pry out the vent panel. White LED's will look identical to stock because the stock bulbs have a blue tint cover to them. They do have to go in a certain direction so if they don't work then turn the 180* I suggest using a panel popper or a very thin and wide screwdriver/chisel. You can get a panel popper at any local auto parts store for a few bucks.

I use a pair of pliers cover the end with a cloth grab the vent and pull. Then the 2 screws and the rest pops right off.

I have been using the method that the FSM suggests (in the pic below) but more recently the front vent trim has started popping off of the rest of the vent assembly when I try to pull it off. A better method which always worked was using some plastic wedges I got from Crutchfield and I could just pry out the vent assembly.

I have a 2002 Qx4. This is different than the link you posted. Also, I do not need to change the Orange light. Just the white ones that illuminate Front & Rear Defrost. Is that still challenging?

It's the same as mine and I think easier then Pwnin's setup. When you pull it out it's easy to disassemble the unit to get to the bulbs. Just follow FastPathy35's instructions and then remove the few screws holding the climate control to the center trim piece and then remove the screws that hold the climate control together. Pry it apart carefully and the backs of the bulbs will be exposed. It's easy once you've got it in your hands.

Does anyone know if the Defrost lights (white, not orange) can be replaced?
