At first i complained.. and said to heck with it.. But now, im getting tired of it..Problem: Hit the auto button, set it to 75F... nothing happens. Fans will not come on, unless the speed is on 4. I hate that now, because sometimes i just wanna ride with 77F with speed on 1, but i have to suffer with speed on 4. ONe thing i have noticed tho, even with the speed on 1,2,or 3, if im driving, and i have it using air from outside, i feel the coolness. So i take it the compressor is still shooting out the coolness, but the fan isnt cutting on. Do i need a whole new Climate COntrol thingy?Something somewhere is not cutting on when this thing is on 1 2, or 3.I think someone told me before, but i never paid attention, and now im in desperacy. Can i take it to a mech and let them do it. Will they know what their looking for (A Q45 MECHANIC THAT IS)

Have you replaced the fan control amplifier yet? It's located in the air box behind the glove compartment. If your fan will only run on high speed this is the problem.

P/N is 27761-85E01 and cost $57 from Joe in '05. Figure about 25% more now.

It stares you in the face once the glove box is removed. Might as well pull the fan motor next to it and clean off the dirt on the blades since the extra weight may have been what caused the fan control amp to fail in the first place.

Classic darlington resistor failure - fan only runs on high. Be sure that your air box is clean and fan is running properly - poor air flow over the resistor can cause it to overheat and fail.

I just remember the word heat. he replaced that too, also did all the vacuming and filled me up with freon. bill for that was like $925.

The fan speed transistor assembly fails because the fan motor is worn out from running it too slow too frequently.

Time for a new fam motor or the new speed control will just fail again, soon!

Dfference between a mechanic and a technician again highlighted.

Treating symptoms, not causes.

Just run the fan FULL SPEED until you have the coin to replace fan motor, as it bypasses the darlington resistor when you set fan speed to HIGH

Something everyone should be familiar with, since every car and truck with automatic adjustable speed fans [and fuel pumps] use exactly the same method for at least the past 20 years.

I believe that Jerry Tucker (who repairs the controllers) once said that the controller has a part that would be soldered at one point for controllers used in areas that use Celsius, and another point for ones that use Fahrenheit. Not sure what was going on in your controller though...

which fan motor? wouldnt there be two different fan motors since i have two different fans? As far as soething new.. i just realized something that doesnt make sense... if u been foloowing this thread, you have seen what was worked on.. Well when the a/c comes on.. i put it on 70 degrees. when im on the freeway or something doing like 70mph... i feeel the air kinda blowing, but its not blowing cold, its blowing just cool. But when i get to a light and stop. Then i leave the light, and its blowing ice cold, but the miute i pick back up speed, its blowing just kool. WTF is causeing that? Did i explain enuf ?

Only one HVAC fan.

How do your pressures read? The system may be low on refrigerant. If it is, the question is why?
